| The
Arkansas Cancer Community Network (AR-CCN) at the Cancer Institute is designed to
facilitate the development of a collaborative infrastructure for community-based
participation in cancer control.
Achieving sustainable behavioral change that will reduce or eliminate
cancer disparities require interventions directly on individuals and indirectly
on social, cultural, and institutional change. The Cancer Institute seeks to facilitate
change in cancer control activities through three levels of change:
- Individual change in patients and medical practitioners concerning
knowledge, attitude, and behaviors.
- Social and cultural change in the social norms and social practices
of African American, Latino, and rural populations.
- Institutional change in medical practices, medical education, and
university support programs.
All of the activities of the AR-CCN program contribute to supporting
this change. We invite you to learn more about cancer control and outreach
at the Cancer Institute and get involved in your community!
