The Cancer Institute fully adopts the standards and best practices for web sites established by UAMS. Those standards are located at www.uams.edu/advancement/standards.htm. In addition, the Cancer Institute specifies the following.

Mission of the Cancer Institute Web Site

  • The Cancer Institute web site exists to advance the mission of the cancer center.

  • To conduct significant basic, translational, and clinical research that will improve cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment
  • To provide outstanding oncology training to health care professionals and students

Administration and Security of Web Site

Standards for the Cancer Institute web site, content, organization, and future needs of the website are the responsibility of the Cancer Institute Editorial Committee. The Director of Cancer Education chairs the committee and convenes meetings as necessary. The committee consists of Cancer Institute members actively involved in each of the four areas of the cancer center's mission, namely patient care, research, education, and training.

The Director of the Ottenheimer Cancer Education Center serves as the director of the web site and is responsible for the daily operation and administration of the website. The director meets regularly with staff and a working committee to oversee the production of sub-pages for the Cancer Institute web site.

The Office of Academic Computing maintains the server for the Cancer Institute web site and is responsible for all issues related to security.
